Romanticism is not Dead

I attended a show given by a world-renown violinist (a prodigy, really) in a small theatre. Toward the end of the show, she surprised us all saying she had received a special request.

It turned out the request was from a young man who wanted to propose a betrothal to his girlfriend.

They were seated five rows straight in front of me.

He poured his heart in the request her wrote, beautiful words most women long to hear, telling her he loved her very much and wished to spend his life with her.

On cue from the last line of his betrothal proposal, he went down on one knee and opened an engagement ring box in front of her. We did not hear her answer, but she threw her arms around his neck … it is safe to say she said yes.

Most women in the audience and the female musicians on stage ended up with watery eyes.

What a sweet moment.

May their engagement make their love stronger and may they have a long and fruitful marriage.
