Father’s Day

Today is Father’s Day…

And I have had no one to wish it to for close to 20 years.

I am wondering if men today know the meaning of fatherhood.

What kind of examples do the youth have?

They see their parents struggling to give them a comfortable living… at the expense of quality living. Who has time to spend quality with the kids?

Between having both parents in the workforce and the youth occupying their time with gaming, when are bonds strengthened? When are life and values at the core of discussions? When do the kids receive the guidance they need, the love they need, the attention they need?

Where are the dads? Where are the men who equally treat their children? Where are the men who have time for their children, who are involved in their lives?

What type of fatherly figure do kids see? The cheater, the selfish one, the hedonist, the Epicurean, the thief, the murderer, the liar? The arrogant and dominant one? Where are men who are deep enough to see their kids for who they are and who they could be if they chose to be there for them?

Where are the real dads?
